I must tell you that I wrote earlier but there was a malfunction from my end that stopped the matter unless you may receive two.
This time of Gary's demise is still quite sharp and painful for you I am sure. My Nicholas left 3 years ago and we are very unsettled and feel it was only yesterday. You have created a beautiful site for us to come to and remember your son and offer our shoulders for you, We will send a prayer too.

The TP story / Luke Haggard (Best Friend )
Okay, everyone wants to know about the TP story so here it is. Most everyone knows that Gary and I were neighbors on more than one occasion. We use to live on Union Hill Road and once on Margie Drive in the same subdivision as Ronnie Felts. Everyone knows Ronnie. What everyone doesn't know is that I am kin to Ronnie and all the other Felts's in Joelton. Anyway, Gary shows up one night at the door with a bag full of Toilet paper and says let's go roll Ronnie's Yard. Why Ronnie I don't know, but I was in. So we jump on our bikes (bicycle's) and roll on over to Ronnie's. We get there and it's dark and we realize there is NO Tree’s in his yard but these little small trees. So we begin to roll the bushes and the little trees and then we begin to tear up the paper into little pieces all over his yard. Just about the time we were finished BAM! We were ambushed by Ronnie and his brother Donnie who came running from around the back of the house carrying bats and pipes or guns or whatever. I don't really remember because we were most certainly in deep water and a whole lot trouble and hurt. Oh yeah, we're about 13 years old at the time. Well, Ronnie and Donnie grab us and haul our butts to the car and throw us in the back seat and say "we're taking you to the jail right now!" and off we go. Gary's looking at me and I’m looking at him and we're both thinking "This ain't good." Gary starts pleading for forgiveness and I'm singing backup. They're giving us hell by yelling and screaming and asking us just what the heck did you think you were doing rolling Ronnie's yard! They don't care how much we beg, they're taking us to Jail! On the way to "Jail" Ronnie drives over to Chambers Market on the highway and gets gas. He comes back out to the car where we're being guarded by Donnie and standing outside the car we hear him tell Donnie, "I called the Sherriff and he said to bring them in now!" Okay, now we're scared, crying and about to pee in our pants. They get in the car and take off. Noticing that we were totally scared they decided to take us home to our parents. So they ask where they are and we told them that they were at my house. On our way there Donnie gets the bright idea for "US" (me and Gary) to clean up the yard first. We spent the next 2 hours walking around picking up Toilet Paper and picking up the mess we made while Ronnie and Donnie watched and laughing at us. By this time I'm mad and I'm yelling at Gary about what a dumbass idea it was to get me involved in his prank. He's yelling at me and we're about to fight each other when Ronnie decides we've done enough and had enough problems and decided to take us home. He carry's us to my house where he "thinks" both sets of parents are and let's us out at the drive. He tells us he is going home to call our parents but will wait until we've had time to explain why he brought us home. Weeeeellllll, we never told my mom and dad why Ronnie brought us home and we never told Gary’s mom and dad who were not at my house. I just stuck my head in the door and said I'm home to my folks who were lying on the couch watching TV and never knew anything. Gary and I are sitting outside trying to come up with a lie about where we had been when a cop car pulls into my driveway. Gary busted out in a full sprint to his house across the back yards of our neighbors and I just sat there on the wall. Turns out the cop car was just turning around in our driveway and I was frozen in time. The next day we laughed about it and we never told our folks. And then one day my mom goes to the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions and Ronnie asks her "how's Luke?" Mom said "He's fine why you ask? These pills are for Billy (my dad)." Ronnie just say's "oh, no reason. I saw him and Gary out the other night and was wondering what they were up to out late at night." My Mom comes home and asks me if there was anything she needed to know and I told her I had no idea what that meant. She said "well, I guess I'll just have to call Gary's Mom and she and I will go talk to Ronnie because something tells me you boys have been up to no good." I told her "mom, don't you think Ronnie would tell you if I had done something wrong?" She said "It's hard to tell boy. All you men are all alike. You would lie to your own mother if it meant saving the other ones butt." That's when I found out about true friendship.....I had just lied to my own mother to save mine and my buddy's butt! Mama was right! And I grew up knowing how my Mama and Dad knew when something was wrong. As a parent, you just know these things because you were part of these things yourself in your past. I love you Gary and take care my friend. I'll see you someday in heaven. We'll roll another yard for old time sakes. LOL. If you liked this story, wait until I tell one that involved me, Gary and Rusty. Oh, we ain't leaving Rusty out! He was meaner than me and Gary put together! Don't let his little boy charm fool you. I know holidays are difficult for those of us left behind with memories of our loved ones. Gary was always a unselfish friend who enjoyed life. Our lives drifted apart after high school but we had some really fun memories with all of the camping trips with our old Troop 490! Usually, Gary, me, Tom Harbison and Tim Leyhew would tent together. We never got any sleep but spent the whole night talking about something silly. I remember one particular trip when Gary wanted to "get the fire going" after it was almost burnt out after a long night. Gary couldn't get anything to burn so he slipped into Mr. Kimbro's tent and got some fuel that was used in the cooking stoves. He poured a cup full of the fuel on the fire and the whole thing exploded! It woke everone up and we laughed so hard but couldn't let Mr. Kimbro see us laughing. Gary didn't seem to think it was too funny at the time either. We laughed about that one for years... I had my 50th birthday last week. I know it is difficult for Gary not to be here to celebrate his birthday. I'm sure he's celebrating, just not here with us. Happy Birthday my friend.

Sometimes things happen in life that we can't understand and it makes us wonder why there is so much pain and heartache.
When someone we love so much is taken away we hurt to the core of our being. It's hard to go on but somehow we have to.
Nothing is easy about it though. We have to pray everyday for God to help us threw it because this is something we could never handle on our on.
Bubba I never got to meet you here on earth but I hope that one day I will in heaven. In a place where there is no more death or pain.
Patty you did a great job on the web-site. Although we havn't got to meet in person yet I feel like weve been friends forever. Isn't it amazing what the internet has done. It's made us many friends.
